No one mentioned about the argument at the dinner. They joked about the photos that Hyoyeon and Yuri posted. They joked about Sooyoung mishaps. They joked about Tiffany’s hilarious dates.

But when the desserts arrived, Tiffany started the topic.

“I’m really sorry about how I behaved that day.” Tiffany said, looking apologetic. Taeyeon knew Tiffany rarely apologized.

“Don’t be”, Taeyeon replied softly, “you waited me for an hour to have breakfast and I wasn’t exactly considerate.”

“Hmmm”, Tiffany hummed. Taeyeon noticed her pressing her lips together tightly. The latter obviously wanted to say something.

“You can ask me anything you know?” Taeyeon stated. Sunny was right.

Tiffany looked up at her in surprise.

“I know you want to ask me something. Shoot.”

“I don’t know what to say exactly…” Tiffany trailed off, her eyes focusing on her ice cream instead of Taeyeon. “ I don’t want you to misunderstand.”

“I won’t.” Taeyeon responded calmly, trying to let Tiffany’s guard down. The girl was tense.

“Why did it take you long to be comfortable with me?”

“I mean, you slept over at your director’s apartment even though you only knew her two weeks. You couldn’t even talk comfortably with me for a month.”,Tiffany finally dropped the bomb.

“You weren’t yourself.”

Taeyeon looked at the passersby across the glass pane of the restaurant. Images of Tiffany she first met came to her like a flash, “When we first met, you weren’t yourself. You had this façade that you wanted people to see instead of your true self.”

Taeyeon decided to be honest. They both needed to be as honest as they can get. “I felt it. Frankly speaking, I didn’t want to hang out with people who weren’t honest with me. We only live once. I don’t want to give my time to someone who’s not genuine with me.”

“What made you continue being friends with me?”, Tiffany’s voice held an edge. She didn’t like what she heard. She didn’t like it because it was true,

“You cried.” Taeyeon remembered her heart breaking at the sight of Tiffany breaking down after the confrontation at the toilet that particular day. Her crying was still fresh in her memory.

“You cried your heart out mourning for your loss time trying to please everybody.” Taeyeon spoke wistfully. She turned to look at Tiffany, “I realized you didn’t actually want that attention you received as much as I thought you would.”

“Don’t judge the book by its cover.”

Taeyeon smiled and raised her hands guiltily, “Yeah, I apologize. It was my mistake. I shouldn’t have.”

“I wasn’t exactly honest with you either like you said. So I can’t blame you.” Tiffany responded. That much was true.

“How about now?”

“Now you’re one of my very good friends. We hanged out practically every day last month, didn’t we? I wouldn’t have hanged out with you that much if I wasn’t comfortable with you.”

“Yet, you comfortably spent a night at a stranger’s apartment.” Tiffany pointed out as if Taeyeon forgot what happened. She’s still couldn’t get over it.

“Miyeon-unnie’s not a stranger.” Taeyeon replied.

“Then why? Why did it only two weeks for you to be comfortable with her?”

“I’m not that comfortable with her. It was very late and I had a few drinks. It’s not good for a female driver to drive that late. Her and my place are 45 minutes apart.”

“Why are you comparing yourself with her? You both are different. She’s a respectful senior I have to work with for another five weeks. That’s all.”

“I still feel you’re not that comfortable around me.”

 “You’re not exactly either.”

Tiffany pouted. Taeyeon chuckled and reached out to pat Tiffany’s hand.

“Relax. We still have a long way ahead of us. It’s gonna be fine.”

It’s not fine

Not fine at all

“I swear that Director of hers is deliberately making her stay.” Tiffany muttered as she ended the call. Taeyeon called her to inform her that she had to stay at the museum to help Sunny’s aunt with some work. Apparently, she volunteered along with Sunny.

“It’s her job, Fany.. I’m sure they have a lot to work over there. It’s Leeum. Besides, even her best friend who’s the niece is staying overtime.”

“She’s part-time, Soo!”

“Technically, she is but in reality, she’s not. She’s treating it as an internship, right? You told me about that the other day.”

“I shouldn’t have supported when she told me she wants to work full time there during the break.” Tiffany mumbled, “Now she doesn’t have time for me.”

“Do you like her?”

“Yeah, I do. She’s a good friend.” Tiffany responded calmly.

“That’s not what I’m asking, you know it.” Sooyoung rolled her eyes.

“Can you stop asking stupid questions then? She’s my friend and she’s supposed to be having a break, not working.”

“You didn’t even bother to visit me when I went to work in Japan.” Sooyoung pointed.

“If you like her, I have no problems. She’s a good person but your personalities are polar opposite.”

“I haven’t forgotten the stunt you pulled the other day, Choi.”

“She would have stopped talking to me, Shikshin!”

“She didn’t, right? Besides, I didn’t say anything stupid.” ,Sooyoung defended, “It’s okay to let someone in,Fany-ah. Not everyone is fake. Taeyeon is genuine. I can see it and I know that you see it.”

“I don’t like her, Sooyoung.”

Sooyoung sighed tiredly knowing the latter’s not going to confess the truth anytime soon.

“Okay then. Then don’t regret when she starts to see other people.”

“Got it. You don’t like her in any romantic way at all. So, you don’t mind joining Siwon and me at our usual hang out? It’s been sometime we get together.”

“Fine. I have nothing to do now anyway.” Tiffany looked down at her watch. Her previous plan was cancelled thanks to a middle age lady who thinks she’s sexy and still young.

“Why? She cancelled the dinner date that she didn’t know she had?”,Sooyoung joked.

“There they are.”

Tiffany turned around and saw Sooyoung’s boyfriend walking towards their table. Siwon was engaged in a conversation with his old friend he ran into when they entered the café.

She then saw a guy behind Sooyoung’s boyfriend, as they got nearer. The guy seemed to look surprised for a moment when their eyes met but immediately changed to a grin as he proceeded to follow Kyung Ho.

Tiffany got up as she gave her seat to Kyung Ho and took a seat opposite. She felt the sofa dipped as someone took a seat besides him. She ignored him as she sipped her cocktail.

She gave a side-glance as she put down the glass. She turned a bit and gave him a friendly smile.

The guy grinned as she responded. He moved a bit closer to her as he checked her out from head to toe.

“I’m Chun-Hee. Lee Chun Hee. I’m attending the same major with Kuyung-ho.” The guy extended his hand.

She smiled as she took it. “Tiffany Hwang.”

The guy still loosely held her hand after they finished shaking. She also made no attempt to remove it. He smiled wider.

“You’re beautiful. And I know that you know it. I just wanted to say it.”

He made no attempt to hide his desire. His eyes were evident. He’s pretty straightforward, I give him that

She liked it; the feeling of being wanted, the feeling of being desired, the feeling of having control.

She hadn’t actually gone on proper dates recently, much less responding to texts of previous dates. Not when she’s enjoying her time with Taeyeon more than entertaining the boys who only wanted one thing from her after the date ends.

She immediately removed her hand in reflex when a certain image popped into her head. She looked down at her hand. What was she doing? What’s this uneasy feeling that she had just now?

She felt a gaze and she looked up. Sooyoung was staring at her meaningfully. She inhaled. Nope, that’s not gonna happen.

“Hey, you okay?” A hand touched her forearm.

She shook her head and smiled at him. “I’m fine. Just had a chill.”

“Get yourself a date.”

Taeyeon groaned. The gang were at their favorite café to reunite after Yuri and Hyoyeon got back from the trip. They shared their stories of their trips, caught up with the recent happenings and a few minutes later the attention went to Taeyeon. They never stopped meddling with her business.

Without looking up to face her friends stares, she asked, “Are we seriously having this conversation again?”

“Until you start dating again, yes.” Yuri nodded her head, determined. She had made it her mission to pull Taeyeon out of her celibacy.

“I have been out of the game for so long, Yuri. I don’t know if I even want to see someone right now.”

“Don’t you feel lonely?” Hyoyeon interrupted. She could never empathize with Taeyeon when it came to how they live. She couldn’t stand being alone.

“I’m also searching for the right one. But I do go on dates. You on the other hand…” ,Sunny said. Yuri also went on dates. Hyoyeon’s also steady with the guy she’s currently seeing. As for Taeyeon…her life was currently revolving around a certain beauty without any direction.

“Aren’t you also tired of seeing countless of people?” Taeyeon pointed out. It was true. Dating costs a lot of time and money. One would have put on make up, tried to look her best and oh, not to mention, be someone else that boys will be attracted to.

“At least she gets laid.” Hyoyeon sniggered as she pointed out at Yuri who immediately got up from her seat to strangle her.

“Ya! Kim Hyoyeon!”

“Kwon Yuri! How d-“ Sunny looked at her tan friend, shocked.

“I was drunk, okay! Besides, he was attractive. It was just one night!” Yuri defended.

“My point exactly!!” Sunny scolded, flabbergasted.

“You make it sound like I-“

“At least you are not that active as Tiffany.”

All stunned at a sudden remark from their best friend. Taeyeon looked up from her drink after noticing a sudden silence. She immediately realized what she said. CRAP

“Okay, I think I’m missing something here.” Hyoyeon glanced at Sunny who had a knowing look on her face.

“Did you hook up with Tiffany during our absence?”

“W-what? No! Of course not!”

Taeyeon immediately denied the statement. Hook up? It will be the joke of the century. How can her a simple boring have no sense for fashion taste short-stuff can hook up, let alone a kiss with someone who’s so attractive, sexy and not –to mention her luscious li-

“You are fantasizing about her, aren’t you?” asked Yuri in a flat tone after noticing her friend’s dreamy drooling look.

“How did you know Tiffany had sex then?”

“Do you have to be this straightforward?!” Taeyeon scolded Yuri. It’s like a slap in her face, reminding her about Tiffany’s famous antic, which usually is a warning signal for someone like her.

“How did you?”

“I-I…” Taeyeon exhaled and closed her eyes, “I saw a hickey on her collarbone when removed her coat the other day.” It was well hidden under her striped boat neck t-shirt but it became visible when she removed her coat accidentally stretching the shirt along with it. She failed to have a levelheaded mind afterwards.

“She might be just making out.” Hyoyeon helped. Sunny gave her “What-the-fuck” sign. Taeyeon rolled her eyes. It wasn’t helping at all.

“So have you come down to the conclusion? About what you feel about her?”

The three friends looked at Taeyeon expectantly. It had been over five months since Tiffany entered Taeyeon’s life. And the girl broke the record of crushing Taeyeon’s walls within a short time.

Taeyeon sighed heavily.

“Yes, I like her. A lot.”

The squeals and cheers followed.

Taeyeon tapped her card at the scanner as she put the books on the counter. She decided to borrow some books from her school library to read at her apartment. She carried the books in her hand as she scrolled through her phone while walking along the school corridors.

She accidentally collided with someone dropping the books as a result.

“I’m very sorry!” Taeyeon exclaimed as she crouched down to pick up her books. A hand touched the book she was going to grab. It was a man’s hand. She looked up.

“Hey, does coffee sound good?”

The phone beeped.

Tiffany turned around to take her phone to see the notification. A hand gently massaged her neck to grab her attention.

She was on a third date with the guy she met at the bar the last time. The guy also came along with Sooyoung’s boyfriend when they decided to join the hang out with Sooyoung and Siwon.

“Baby, why did you move away?” The guy mumbled as he leaned into her ear as he inhaled her scent. He booked first-class seats at a posh movie theatre for the date. The seats were only separated the foldable armrest that was now folded.

Tiffany closed her eyes as the guy started to kiss along her neck to her collarbone. The phone beeped again.

She looked at the screen. Siwon sent her a message.

She’s really pretty

Tiffany raised her eyebrows at the mysterious message. Did Siwon send the text to her in mistake? Then again, the text was directly sent to her in SMS, not in chat app.

“Baby, your attention should be on me.”

“Slow down, Tiger. The movie hasn’t even started.” Tiffany responded. The guy took her to a secluded movie theatre as a date. She knew what he wanted. But she’s not that naïve to play along to his rule. This would be her game. Her game, her rules.

She’s really pretty

 She’s really pretty

She’s pretty. –but she’s a rare gem

Tiffany immediately opened her eyes. She finally sat up and moved away from her date’s embrace. She unlocked her phone and clicked the message.

She’s really pretty

Siwon only texted her one simple sentence. What was the previous notification?

Tiffany checked the notifications. It was Snapchat. She immediately opened the app.

The back of the girl wearing leather jacket accentuated by skinny jeans was recorded ordering something to the barista in a video that lasted five seconds.

A Rare Gem #Can this become a date?

Tiffany felt her anger rising to the top as she glared at the smiling face with sunglasses emoji that Siwon tagged along with the phrases on the video.

This bastard

The backpack that the girl wearing was an immediate give away to the latter’s identity. Taeyeon liked to put badges on her bag. Tiffany bought her one and Taeyeon had put in on her bag ever since. Now the Jack Skellington badge seemed to be mocking at her with that creepy smile of his.

“Baby, what’s wrong?” A hand touched her leg, sliding slowly.

Tiffany pulled away her leg and faked a smile at the guy. “I said the movie hasn’t even started, Oppa. And this is only our third date.”

“We were fine kissing a moment ago,” the guy said unhappily.

“Now, the movie is rolling. You paid a lot for this.” Tiffany replied flatly, her mind no longer into the movie and the guy besides him. She was getting restless. Siwon had done it again, ruining her life just when she thought her life was getting better.

“I paid a lot for this so I could be closer to you.”

“We are on our third date and we are already this close.”

“What? Did you hear about going to the fourth base on the third base with Tiffany Hwang?” Tiffany asked bluntly, no longer having patience.

“W-what?” , the guy stuttered.

Tiffany smirked as she moved away from him completely. “Don’t play dumb. I know about the rumor. Do you think I will be that easy?”

“Why do you think I let you get this close to me? This is my game and I will play along as long as you haven’t bored me yet.”

“What the fuck you just said?!” The guy shouted angrily, his pride wounded.

“Now that I know you are just one in a million, I’m bored. The date is over.” Tiffany said with finality as she stood up to leave. She had more important issue to attend to than to entertain another brainless jock.

“What the hell are you doing?” the guy grabbed her hand.

“Don’t touch me.” Tiffany tried to yank his hand off her wrist.

The guy didn’t remove her hand and forcefully pushed her towards him. Tiffany kneed him in the stomach and pushed him down to his seat.

Tiffany grabbed his collar tightly as she glared at him in anger, “Do that again and I will scream.”

“Now, we’re really over, you son of a bitch.”

Siwon smirked as he looked at the string of messages that was sent in a span of five minutes.

“So, you have something to say to me?”

Siwon closed his phone and looked at the girl in front of him. The girl had no reaction to his signature smile. He knew the girl didn’t flutter at the sight of him.

“We haven’t properly met and talked, Taeyeon.”

“We are not from the same major, Oppa.” ,replied Taeyeon. They had no reason to meet unless they were hanging out in groups with same mutual friends.

“That is true.” Siwon smiled as he stirred his coffee, “How long have you known Yoona by the way? Just out of curiosity.”

Making small conversations Taeyeon noted mentally. This meeting was no coincidence.

“Yuri introduced us when we just graduated. She’s already started modeling by then.”

“I see.”

“What do you want to talk about, Oppa?”

Siwon chuckled as he pointed his finger playfully at the latter, “Just as Sooyoung said, you are very straightforward, Taeyeon.”

“I just think that you won’t ask for me to have a coffee with you unless you have something to say.” Taeyeon responded with a friendly smile. She had no intention to get involved with him in a rumor. They were already earning glances from the passersby as they spoke.

“Do you mean my interest in you?”

“You know I don’t mean that.”

Siwon finally exhaled as he leaned back to his chair, “Okay, I won’t beat around the bush. I was hoping we could get familiar with each other first. What a pity.”

Siwon stopped smiling as he looked at Taeyeon. Taeyeon felt it, a bad omen falling into the pit of her stomach. Her heart beats getting louder inside her heart as Siwon spoke.

“I want you to stop meeting Tiffany.”

“Fasten your seatbelt.”

“Yes, mom.”

“Ya~~ don’t call me that. I feel old.”

Taeyeon chuckled as Miyeon-unnie whined. Director can be funny if she wanted to although she rarely showed it. Instead, she spoke in such a coy manner that it’s hard to figure what she was trying to say exactly.

She unlocked her phone after waiting for the traffic to turn green. The woman besides her seemed to be into the song that was playing on the radio as her fingers played along the wheel.

She decided to check her Instagram to see what her friends were updating. She grinned as she saw the photo of Yuri doing a yoga pose on the water with her tongue out. She’s surely having her time in her life. Hyoyeon took a selfie of herself along with some foreigners as she’s continuing her backpack trip in Europe.

Sunny posted the view of the sunset and her feet with a cocktail glass by her side. She’s happy that her friends were having a great time. Although she was jealous, she couldn’t deny she’s gaining a lot of new knowledge and experiences from her part-time job at the museum.

Another post updated and she scrolled down to check. Tiffany was tagged in a photo. An account she’s not familiar with tagged her, Sooyoung and Sooyoung’s boyfriend.

The guy was raising his glass while his arm was over Tiffany’s shoulders and the latter seemed to be leaning towards him as she showed her signature smile as her cocktail glass touching her lips. Sooyoung and her boyfriend posed their usual couple pose while sitting across the duo.

It’s currently 11.40 pm. They must still be at the bar.

She would always see the similar smile on the photos Tiffany was either tagged or posted. Although she could feel Tiffany smile more genuinely whenever they hanged out, the smile would turn a bit flirty and seductive when a guy approached her and asked her number.

Tiffany was flirtatious, that much she knew. It’s “a meaningless little fun’ that she enjoyed according to Tiffany herself.

But why was she bothered? She had seen the similar photos, a few even in bikinis and yet, she couldn’t stop the stuffy feeling in her chest.

Is it because this is actually happening at the present?

“You’re very quiet.”

“Am I? “ Taeyeon turned to the woman besides her.

“You are.” Miyeon responded in a “You know yourself” tone.

“Well, your car is nice and it’s fun riding in the front seat.”

“Love problems?”

“It is, isn’t it? I saw you checking your Instagram.”

“You and I don’t know each other that well to talk about this, unnie.” Taeyeon didn’t want to have another troublesome conversation she wants to avoid.

“You’re blunt, I like it. It’s fresh.”

“Kids these days…it makes me miss my student life, having no worries about the future and making something out of nothing important.” Miyeon said, nostalgia feeling evident in her tone, “We adults cannot entertain such love dramas. So enjoy it before you enter the work force.”

“I prefer no drama at all.” replied Taeyeon. She didn’t even know how to sort out her own feelings. Why would she entertain another problematic stuff to her head?

“Yet, you are having one.”

“Let’s play twenty questions then.” Miyeon turned to Taeyeon when the traffic lights turned red,“I ask you one and you can ask me back one.”

Taeyeon looked back at her, “What if I don’t want to answer the questions you ask?”

“You can drink.”

“Yeah, how about we hang out at the bar? Do you have any plans or you want to go home to rest?” Miyeon asked as she looked at the time on her wristwatch.

“…” Taeyeon didn’t answer.

“It’s up to you. We won’t go if you don’t want to.” Miyeon said after she noticed her silence. She didn’t want to disturb her further.

“Let’s go to the bar.” Taeyeon responded with finality.

Tiffany rubbed her hands together to keep herself warm as she waited for the security guard who went to ring Taeyeon’s apartment. The girl hadn’t responded to her texts and calls last night. She herself was tired from drinking last night so she decided to sleep in.

But Taeyeon’s phone was switched off the next morning. So here she was, waiting at the latter’s apartment to have breakfast with her. If one thing she hadn’t done with Taeyeon, it would be breakfast. The latter wasn’t a morning person.

Suddenly, a Porsche drove into the open parking lot halting Tiffany’s thoughts. The car did have Tiffany’s attention. It was a rare sight for a Porsche 911 Coupe to enter this neighborhood.

But she got more surprised when Taeyeon appeared when the car door opened.

“Thank you, I had a great time last night.” Taeyeon said gratefully as she stood in front of Miyeon-unnie. She did have a great time. The fun game they had at the bar managed to distract from her thoughts about a certain Instagram post. And the alcohol made her fall asleep once she lied down on the bed in the guest room of Miyeon-uunie’s apartment.

“I had a great time too. It’s been a while I had such honest conversation with a stranger.”

“Oh, Am I a stranger?” Taeyeon teased.

“You know what I mean.”

Taeyeon just smiled.

“Sunny will come back next week so you won’t feel lonely anymore.”

“I know. Take care, Unnie. And rest well. Today is holiday.”

“I will. You too.”

Taeyeon was waving at the departing car until the familiar loud coice startled her.

“Where were you?!”

“Tiffany?” She looked at the time. It was pretty early for a pretty girl to be having that pissed off look on her face.

What did I do wrong again?

“Your phone was off! I was worried sick!” Tiffany’s loud husky voice was definitely going to wake up the whole residence.

Taeyeon just remembered she had a phone. She took it out from her bag and saw the black screen, “The battery’s gone and I didn’t have a power bank. Sorry.”

“Did you even come home last night?” Tiffany asked, although she already knew the answer.

“Ummm…What are you doing here?”

“I didn’t get to hang out with you yesterday so I decided to surprise you by having a breakfast together.”

“Weren’t you at the XXX bar yesterday?” Taeyeon asked.

“Wh-how do you know?”

“I saw quite a lot of glasses so I thought you would be having a hangover by now.”

“I have a high alcohol tolerance.”

“I can see that.”

“So, breakfast?” Tiffany asked again.

“I-I already had breakfast with Miyeon Unnie just now.”

“Which reminds me my question, you didn’t come back home did you?”

Taeyeon decided to come clean. She could rather be sarcastically honest or be simply honest. She chose the latter, “I didn’t. We decided to go to a bar last night after we finished work. It was already late so I decided to sleep at her apartment for the night.”

“I see.” Tiffany tried her best not to show her disappointment. It took two full months for Taeyeon to be comfortable with her and she still hadn’t opened up to her. And the latter just had a sleepover at her house only after a week and a half working under her. Where did she go wrong?

“Hey, I’m sorry I cancelled our dinner. We were really busy last night. Maybe we can have lunch together today, hmmm?” Taeyeon said, feeling apologetic. The latter waited nearly an hour for her.

“Yet, you went to the bar with her last night.” Tiffany’s tone wasn’t a happy one.

“Well, you also went to the bar last night. You got yourself a date, didn’t you?” Taeyeon teased, faking a smile.

To think I have rejected him for you “You want me to date him?”

“You heard me.”

“It’s up to you.”

Tiffany huffed as she turned around to leave the girl.

Wait. Where are you going?”

“Home. To prepare for a date.”

“Oh” Taeyeon’s hand loosened.

“You had breakfast already and I haven’t. So I’m going to call him to have a breakfast date with me.”

“Okay then. Good Luck.”

Tiffany wanted to scream her frustration at Taeyeon. She expected the latter to make amends for making her wait at her doorsteps during the chilly weather. Then again, it was her choice.

But, she was never the one to control her temper fully. She turned around and uttered the words she had been wanting to say.

“Me?Insufferable? Ha, you’re the one to talk.” Taeyeon responded sarcastically.

“Excuse me?!”

“What do you want from me, Tiffany?”

Tiffany tried not to choke her breath, frustration building up. Taeyeon’s question hit her. What did she want from Taeyeon? She didn’t know.  She also didn’t want to answer.

“What is it?” Taeyeon asked again.

“Breakfast!” An answer was better than no answer. “I wanted to have breakfast with you!”

“I didn’t know you would wait for me!”

“It was meant to be a surprise.”

“Well, I’m surprised you showed up. How about you have breakfast and I will watch you.”

“…” This wasn’t what she wanted. Tiffany turned around.

“No need, I have lost my appetite.”

Taeyeon didn’t follow her.

“You guys only started hanging out a few months ago and you already had a second cold war ?”

“Tell me something I don’t know.” Taeyeon replied sarcastically.

Sunny played around with her chair. The latter had come back from her trip and decided to visit her apartment the next day.“Normallly, you would give up befriending someone if you can’t get along. Why though?”

“Did you come to my house to interrogate me or see me cos’ you miss me?”

“Both.” Sunny smirked playfully.

“I’m not gonna entertain you, Soonkyu. Leave me alone.”

“So, have you found out what you were searching for?”, Sunny leaned in, trying to gauge her reaction.

“What?” Taeyeon asked flatly.

“You said you needed to confirm something.”

“It was about her, isn’t it?”

“It’s not.”

“None of your business, Soonkyu.” Taeyeon glowered. She made sure she glared at the latter so that she would stop asking.

Sunny wasn’t even fazed about her glare. But she spoke delicately, “You don’t have to deal with it yourself, Taengoo. I’m your best friend. You can talk about it.”

“I’m not gonna judge you, I have said that before. Besides, love doesn’t have boundaries. Love is love.”

Taeyeon snorted, “Love is a strong word.”

“So you like her?”

Taeyeon exhaled. It’s no use beating around the bush with Sunny. She decided to come clean. “To be honest, I’m not sure what I feel. I’m interested in her, that’s for sure. If she was truly just a friend to me, I should be feeling the same thing I feel with all of you.”

Taeyeon exhaled, her heart feeling lighter as she explained, “As much as I want to deny, it’s not. But I do not know how to define it though. Is it because she’s very different from me?”

Whenever she thought about Tiffany, her throat constricted, “I tried to be careful around her, you know? But I let loose as soon as I see her. I couldn’t even control how I behave. “

“So, do I like her? I don’t know. I shouldn’t be scared of her if I like her.” It was difficult explaining about what she felt. She wasn’t that open about herself to discuss about her feelings to begin with. Her heart fluttered when Tiffany’s near her. But beyond that, it was confusing.

“You’re scared of her?” Sunny asked, thoughtfully.

“Scared of what she can do to me.”

I’m sorry

Taeyeon looked at the screen for a good few seconds, absorbing the two words that carried a lot of weight.

They hadn’t texted for days. They both knew the last argument they had was weird, arguing like lovers over a failed surprise. Both had a lot to say but didn’t actually say anything.

She felt suffocated.

It’s alright. I’m sorry, too.

Taeyeon looked at the clock. Sunny had started working at the museum although it was more like annoying her aunt with aegyo. She could actually leave work on time as the museum was also quiet.

Dinner sounds great. When and where?

The usual place at COEX?

Japanese? I thought you were on a diet.

Taeyeon chuckled at the angry emoji.

Arasso. I was just teasing. I will be there around 7-ish.

Great! I will get us a table in advance. See ya.

Tiffany?” Sunny asked, after seeing her best friend’s smiling face. She was bored and she needed some entertainment.

“What?” Taeyeon asked, acting oblivious.

Sunny rolled her eyes at her friend’s act. She pointed at her phone.“It was Tiffany, wasn’t it?”

Taeyeon nodded,“She texted me to have dinner together. Wanna come?”

“No thanks. I don’t want to piss her off.”

“What?! She’s also your friend!” Taeyeon asked, flabbergasted. Where does that come from?!

“Just how can you be that dumb, Taengoo? You guys haven’t spoken to each other for days and she reached out to you. And you bringing me to the dinner will only make matter worse.” Sunny replied, knowingly.“Tiffany has a lot of pride more than you think. She reached out to you first. Be considerate.”

“You can even confess her tonight, who knows?”

“Excuse me?!”

“You like her. She likes you.”

“She does not!” Taeyeon vehemently denied. That was the most ridiculous statement of the century, pun intended.

“You both are stubborn drama queens.” Sunny deadpanned.

“You blabbering short stuff, get back to work.”

“Like you’re any taller than me.”

“I’m still taller than you.”

“Tiffany’s taller than you. Make sure you wear insoles if you decide to make a move or it will be a turn off.” Sunny finally ran away from her desk.

“Can you for god’s sake stop looking at her?! “ Tiffany whispered harshly as Sooyoung continued to blatantly stare at Taeyeon who awkwardly walked away from them.

She planned to talk Taeyeon into showing them around the exhibition until her tall idiotic best friend scared the poor girl away by staring at her non-stop.

“I get that she’s cute and pretty but seriously? Her, Tiffany?” Sooyoung asked in disbelief as she continued to stare as Taeyeon showed a well-dressed couple around the exhibition.

“Will you STOP STARING?!” Tiffany was ready to strangle Sooyoung in public at this point. The main purpose was to make Taeyeon show them around so that she could also know about the latter’s taste in arts. The plan’s now ruined even before it started.

“Can’t help it.” Sooyoung replied unapologetic as she finally changed her gaze to the painting in front of them.

 “Wow, it’s beautiful.”

“I wonder if anyone asked them to auction or buy this piece.”

“Don’t you have a cousin whose house is like a museum?”

“Hehe. He had banned me from entering his house after I accidentally dropped my sauce on one of his statues. It was just a drop though.”

Tiffany rolled her eyes as they proceeded to view another artwork. “You and your food.”

“Life is food, my Fany. Life is food.” Sooyoung responded proudly as she wrapped her arm around Tiffany’s shoulder.

 “Ugh, get off me.”

“Whyyyyy…afraid that the little shorty would think you’re taken? Hmmmm?”, Sooyoung smirked as she leaned in more.

“Don’t worry though. She’s occupied.” Sooyoung said as she pointed towards a certain direction. Tiffany followed her eyes and saw Taeyeon smiling bashfully as the woman tried to flatten the non-existence on her collar.

Tiffany scoffed as she turned back to look at the painting. Blue.Green.Blue.G-

“I thought you take me here to ‘enjoy and celebrate the work of our national artists’. How come you seem to be burning a hole through the paintings with your eyes?” Sooyoung teased further.

“I’m just saying. I agree that your glares are powerful but they are not lasers.”

“THAT’S.IT.” Tiffany growled as she yanked the taller girl’s coat and whispered harshly,“If you speak another word again from your stuffing mouth, I will tell Kyung-Oppa that you went clubbing last week without his knowledge.”

Sooyoung’s face paled as a white woman in the painting they saw earlier, “H-how…wh-”

“Don’t you know there’s an app called Snapchat?”

“Who uploaded it?! I thought cameras were not allowed.”

Tiffany scoffed at the remark. Since when did club-goers abide by the rules?

Sooyoung sighed in defeat as she pouted. “Fine. I will stop teasing you. Just don’t get me into trouble.”

Tiffany smirked in victory, “Just make sure you behave well. And I will think about it.”

“I swear you are a devil incarnate.”

Tiffany combed her hair and flaunted, “Bitch, I am the D-“

Tiffany immediately turned around and smiled brightly, slowly putting her hair behind her ear.

Sooyoung scoffed in disbelief.

 “What is it?”

Taeyeon looked at Sooyoung with the bewildered look on her face and turned back to Tiffany. “Oh, I just wanna know if you like the exhibition.”

“It’s marvelous, Taeyeon, celebrating our famous national artists. I didn’t expect the crowd to be this full.”

“Yeah, the museum decided to advertise the event to the younger demographics this time.”

“I see. Thank you for inviting us.”

“No-no problem.” Taeyeon looked down at her shoes to calm herself after seeing Tiffany’s blinding eye-smile.

“Taeyeon, do you have any plans after the exhibition?” That’s it. Get straight to the point.

“I’m not sure. I may or may not have to follow Miyeon-Unnie to the dinner. Why?”

“Yeah.” Taeyeon nodded as she pointed out to the woman earlier who was now chatting with a middle-aged couple, “She’s Sunny’s distant aunt. She’s the Director of this museum and the head curator for this exhibition.”

“I see.” She must be old

Taeyeon bit her lips at the down casted expression of the girl who seemed to be occupying her mind recently.

“W-well, I c-can ask her to let me off early if you wanna go somewhere.”

What did I just say?!

“You would?” Tiffany looked at her expectantly.

“O-of course. My work ends around 7 pm. You and Sooyoung-ssi can wait at the nearby café after you have finished looking around the exhibition.”

“We will.” The satisfied smile finally appeared on Tiffany.

“I don’t remember you asking me about this.” Sooyoung interrupted. Tiffany glared at her annoying best friend.

Taeyeon chuckled as she turned to Sooyoung and extended her hand. Sooyoung raised one of her eyebrows in confusion and took it.

Taeyeon shook the hands gently and grinned, “It was nice meeting you, Sooyoung-ssi. I hope to talk to you when we meet afterwards.”

“Of course.” Sooyoung smiled, surprised at the latter.

Taeyeon bowed in greeting and left.

“She’s cool. I give her that.”

The dinner was a successful occasion to say the least. Taeyeon didn’t manage to stutter or act awkward around the lanky girl she met just now. Tiffany helped the conversation go on well without any misunderstanding.

That was until she pointed out that Tiffany had a small dot of sauce on her chin. The latter immediately wiped her mouth frantically and stood up, excusing herself to the restroom.

The conversation died down and there were only sounds of Sooyoung cutting her meat on their table.

“Look, I will be quick.”

“Sorry?” Taeyeon looked up. Sooyoung had stopped eating and she was looking at her.

“Do you like Tiffany?”

“W-what?”,the question stunned Taeyeon.

“She didn’t go to the toilet just to pee. She went back to put on lipstick and fix her makeup after you pointed out there was a stain on her mouth.”,Sooyoung said as her eyes darted to the empty chair, indicating Tiffany took her handbag along with her to the restroom.

“I’m not sure…what-“

“Fany is assertive. What she wants, what she gets. But I personally do not know how long that lasts.”

“I’m not trying to upset you or anything. She’s my best friend. But she doesn’t act normal around you, that’s for sure.”

“I do not what to say, Sooyoung-ssi. I’m not sure myself to be honest.”

“You don’t really open up to people, do you?”

“…”,Taeyeon didn’t respond to the question. Sooyoung took it as a yes.

“Fine by me. But she’s my best friend and I’m just worried. You are not usually type that fascinates her.”

Taeyeon gripped the napkin in annoyance. “Fascinates her? Am I some type of object, Sooyoung-ssi?”

“I’m sa-“

“I understand that you are being caring as a best friend but there are some questions that you can ask and some you shouldn’t.”

“Regarding Tiffany, it’s between me and her so I prefer you do not meddle in this matter. And we are just friends, I assure you.” Taeyeon said, hoping to end this speculation. She didn’t show any of her true expression. What can she say when she just met her and she herself could not figure what she’s truly feeling.

“I didn’t mean it in a wrong way, Taeyeon.” Sooyoung replied, sensing the girl’s tone of voice,“Tiffany’s eyes were sparkling when she looked at you. “

“It shocked me.”

Taeyeon’s eyes softened.

“The girl who always acts like the success is what matters the most in this world, she never gave into emotions.” Sooyoung spoke softly, feeling pensive,“But when she sees you, the usual flirtatious attitude that she puts on just to attract others disappear.”

“Isn’t she the same with you?”

Sooyoung smiled.

“She and I go back a long way. We have been friends for more than a decade. You guys only started to hang out a couple of months ago.”

“Whatever happens, I hope you can continue being friends with her in the long run. “

“She’s a good friend, Sooyoung-ssi.”

“Just Sooyoung, Taeyeon.”

“Okay, Sooyoung.”

“I hope you continue to stay by her side in the future. That girl needs a bit of tranquility in her life and you give her that.”

“She’s lucky to have you too. You are a very good friend.”

“Thank you, Taeyeon.”

“You’re welcome, Sooyoung.”

“Hey, you okay?”

“Hmmm?” Taeyeon looked at the girl besides her.

“You have been quiet since dinner.” Tiffany spoke, trying not to beat around the bush. With Taeyeon, it’s better to be straightforward than going around the topic. The girl is pro at avoiding the questions.

“Oh, I’m okay. Just a bit worn out I guess?”

“Did Sooyoung say something to you? She did, didn’t she?”

“She didn’t say anything. We just had a small conversation, that’s all.”

“You tend to hesitate if you’re not honest.”,Tiffany spoke solemnly.

“I didn’t know you’re that observant.” Taeyeon joked, trying to lighten up the atmosphere.

“I’m sorry.”,Tiffany hung her head low.

“Hey, don’t be.” Taeyeon nudged the latter by the shoulders,“She didn’t say anything. I’m just tired from the job today. The exhibition was more crowded that we expected.”

“If you say so.”

“Look, Fany” ,Taeyeon breathed in, “Sooyoung really cares about you. She knows you are mostly surrounded by people who are not genuine towards you.”

“I’m sorry if she was offensive in anyway.”

“She wasn’t. I would have gotten up and leave if she was.”

“I’m serious. “

“O-kay.” Tiffany finally smiled as she reached out to Taeyeon’s arm and linked their arms together as they proceeded to walk under the chilling weather of Seoul.

Taeyeon didn’t show her surprise at the act but she tried to hide her blushing cheeks by hiding further into the scarf wrapped around her neck.

Tiffany smiled wider as she felt the squeeze from Taeyeon’s hand.

Today was a good day.

I’m very sorry for the late update. I actually didn’t have enough inspiration to write down. Then I had preliminary exams. -_-

Anyway, have you guys checked Taeyeon’s Album???!!!

What am I saying? You all have checked out her album already. HAHA

As expected, the Queen nailed it beyond expectations. Nobody messes with SNSD

Every song of this album really touched my heart. Her emotions put into these songs are phenomenal. I can’t wait for SNSD album if this is the taste of what we have to expect.
